Jessica and Casey Wed at Long View Center!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Jessica and Casey knew they wanted me to officiate their wedding at Long View Center after attending Jessica's cousin <a href="http://raleighweddingblog.blogspot.com/search?q=anna+and+scott" target="_blank">Anna's wedding</a> to her husband Scott at the Angus Barn last year. In fact, Jessica was one of Anna's bridesmaids as Anna would be for Jessica. When Marty and I arrived on their beautiful wedding day of November 16, 2013, the wedding party and families were out in Moore's Park getting some wonderful shots. The groomsmen ranged all the way from the altar down to the side aisle. And the bridesmaids the same on the other side. Casey, his best man Avery, and I are waiting for the bride on the floor level then we will all step to the top for the ceremony. A Gorgeous Wedding at Long View Center for Lindsay and Kyle!

On June 22, 2013, I officiated the wedding of Lindsay and Kyle at the lovely <a href="http://unitytriangle.org/about-unity/weddings-downtown-raleigh/" target="_blank">Long View Center</a> leased by Unity Church of the Triangle--my church. The day before, at a retirement party of a former co-worker, I discovered that Lindsay's mother and I worked at the same agency many years ago but not at the same time. You just never know who will cross paths with you and I think it was meant to be that I officiate Ann's daughter's wedding. Lindsay and Kyle met with me last August and they loved the opportunity to write the ceremony of their dreams with my guidance and tons of material I gave them to go through. Their photographer was Elizabeth Myers with <a href="http://www.sweetlifestudios.com/" target="_blank">Sweet Life Studios</a>, another great person to work with again! <a href="mailto:maestroscottm@aol.com" target="_blank">Scott McKenzie</a>, Music Director at <a href="http://unitytriangle.org/about-unity/weddings-downtown-raleigh/" target="_blank">Unity Church of the Triangle</a> and classical pianist and conductor, provided the beautiful music. Kyle lived in Virginia at the time and was in the area visiting with his friends here for the 4th of July weekend. From that point on they were a couple and eventually Kyle moved back to NC again. He proposed in December of 2011 via an elaborate scheme to elude Lindsay's suspicions of getting the ring. I sing in the choir so I see him at least twice a week. He is an accomplished pianist (and maestro) and for this wedding he had the arrangement by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tiZHVMvNPA&feature=c4-overview&playnext=1&list=TLg8yf7PLXTl0" target="_blank">Jonathan Cain of the Bridal March</a>--my very favorite music for the bride's entrance. It is simply magical and evokes such emotion. I had never heard it played live! And, Scott had never heard me do a wedding. After the ceremony I went over and asked him what he thought. He told me he had heard hundreds of wedding ceremonies and that I was the "queen" of wedding ceremonies. The Wedding Bells Really Ring at Yidi and Matt's Wedding at Long View Center!

Loving tenderness is what comes to mind when I think of Matt and Yidi! It was such a pleasure to work with them to create their ceremony and I was so honored to officiate their beautiful wedding at Unity Church of the Triangle at Long View Center on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Yidi was born in China but relocated to the US and was working in a university hospital laboratory when she noticed this handsome young surgeon always brought his lab samples to her. Matt confessed that he was really impressed with Yidi and how intelligent and organized she is. She also had photos of her family and her beloved dogs on her desk so he knew how important family was for her which is equally important to him. Their wedding ceremony reflected that too. Their first "date" was at a dog park between their residences in April of 2010 where their dogs got to know each other and Yidi and Matt had long talks about everything and anything. They realized they shared so many core values that they soon became a couple and eventually decided to marry. They met with me in January to plan the ceremony which was a traditional American wedding ceremony in structure (Matt's family is Roman Catholic) but also wanted to include some words in Mandarin with English translations because not all the guests understood English. So we got to work. Their rehearsal was the day before and Matt and Yidi came dressed in traditional Chinese clothing with a lot of red which is good luck. It was no surprise that the rehearsal dinner was at a Chinese restaurant in Chapel Hill! The wedding day dawned and to our surprise, the City of Raleigh decided to repave Person Street that day, of all days. Matt and I, followed by his non-escorting groomsmen took our places on the altar. I love doing weddings here but it has been since 2009 because it was closed for a while. Now Unity Church of the Triangle leases the space and offers it to the public for weddings.
