Fun, Creative, and Crafty DIY Wedding for Emily and Kris!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Kris and Emily met in high school 10 years ago. They were best friends first and hung out together all the time, but as the years marched on, they finally pronounced themselves officially dating after having completed their college degrees. They have had some challenges--health, work, unemployment--but their love is so strong that they survived all these roadblocks and their relationship was actually strengthened. I found Emily and Kris such creative people with great imaginations and they brought it all forth for their wedding. Every little detail was thought out and had their stamp on it. They are Ninja aficionados and she had crocheted each boutonniere and attached a little figure. I am not up on this lore so I don't know the name of the figures but they all had special meaning. I directed the parents in and when Darryl, father of the groom, returned to bring in the bride, he directed the bridesmaids in after the guys and I entered. Gayle and Mark Wed at Umstead Park!

Gayle and Mark live in Virginia but wanted to get married in Raleigh because it is a central location between their families and friends. They chose <a href="http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/wium/main.php" target="_blank">Umstead Park</a>, Shelter 1, for their venue because they are nature lovers and wanted to get married surrounded by the majesty of nature in a casual setting where everyone could relax and have fun and where they could have their 3 beloved canine children in the wedding! The wedding date was May 27, 2012, Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend. We initially corresponded by email and then they traveled to the Triangle to view the park and I met them there one morning in February. All the other arrangements they made via email and phone. They chose some very high quality vendors like <a href="http://www.irregardless.com/page.php?mode=privateview&pageID=19" target="_blank">Irregardless Cafe</a> to cater the reception, <a href="http://classicalphotography.com/" target="_blank">Jess Levin of Classical Photography</a> to photograph the wedding, <a href="http://edibleartnc.com/" target="_blank">Edible Arts</a> for the wedding cake and <a href="http://weddingmusicinnc.com/" target="_blank">Pratie Heads</a> to provide the music. Mark, Gayle and I worked together to create the perfect wedding ceremony for them and I loved their creativity and willingness to step out of the box and make their wedding ceremony uniquely theirs. We rehearsed the day before and then were all set for the wedding. The weather cooperated beautifully and everything came together. Lindsey and Zachary Marry in the Old Stone Shelter at Umstead Park!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Lindsey and Zachary were looking for a simple wedding in a natural  setting so they chose Shelter #1 at the Harrison Avenue entrance to Umstead Park. This was an example of a beautiful  DIY wedding.  They and their families did a wonderful job of putting this  wedding together. They decorated the lodge with an arch and arranged the picnic tables to make an aisle. Another friend videoed the ceremony. Someone made a beautiful  wooden wedding box for their love letters to each other. Someone else created wedding programs and put together the music  selections which were played on a CD player. Their friend Jill acted as  the wedding director.
